Allergy and Asthma Network/Mothers of Asthmatics, Inc. - Publishes a newsletter, MA Reports, a magazine, Allergy and Asthma Health, videos and other information for people with asthma.


American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology - Organization of allergists, asthma specialists and allied health professionals. Publishes a variety of educational materials for the public.


Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America - A number of chapters throughout the country offer patient and public education programs, support groups, school programs, community workshops and conferences.


Asthma Moms - Families helping families manage asthma.


Blue Ridge Environmental Defense League - BREDL is a regional, community-based, non-profit environmental organization. BREDL's founding principles are earth stewardship, environmental democracy, social justice, and community empowerment.


Food Allergy Network - Provides information on food allergy and anaphylaxis to patients, health professionals and the public through a newsletter, product alerts, videos and cookbooks.


National Association of School Nurses


National Asthma Education and Prevention Program - The NAEEP publishes information for health professionals, schools and the public.

National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute


National Jewish Medical and Research Center - Provides information on asthma and lung disease via the LUNG LINE (800) 222-LUNG. Engaged in treatment, research, and education in chronic respiratory disease.


Roanoke Group of the Sierra Club - The Roanoke Group is a unit of the Virginia Chapter of the Sierra Club, the largest grass-roots environmental organization in the world. The group works on local, state, national, and global environmental issues.


Roanoke Valley Cool Cities Coalition - RVCCC is a local organization in the Roanoke Valley that is tackling the difficult problem of global warming through local actions, advocacy, and education.

Virginia Asthma Coalition


Virginia Clean Air Advocates - an adhoc group dedicated to the mobilization and coordination of resources to better educate the public and policy-makers about effective public policy initiatives that will improve the quality of the outdoor air across the Commonwealth of Virginia.


Virginia Department of Health Tobacco Use Control - The VDH's Tobacco Use Control website is a great resource for tobacco information and smoking cessation.


Resources for Kids

Asthma Busters - AsthmaBusters is a free club for children ages 7 to 14 who have asthma. Members are awarded prizes for completing club activities that help them manage their asthma. Through online games and activities sent to them by mail, members earn "Asthmabucks" to spend on available prizes at the end of the club year. The club operates annually from January 1 through April 30. You must get permission from your parents to join.
